Election of Officers for 2010

Written by David N. McCormick | PDF Print E-mail

For the second year in a row, the membership of our club has decided to return the previous year's officers for another year of service to the club.  In accordance with the club's by-laws, nominations were open from November 1st until December 31st, 2009, and during that time the only nominations received were for the club's incumbent officers.  As a result, again in accordance with the club's by-laws, those officers were re-elected by voice acclamation of the members present at our January club meeting.

FWRCFC Officers for 2010 are:

David McCormick-President

Mike Woods-Vice President

Julie Christofferson-Secretary

Tony Sanders-Treasurer

Gene Luscinski-Safety Officer

I know I speak for all the officers in expressing our thanks to the other members of our club for the support we received from all of you this past year, and for the confidence you've shown in electing us to serve again in the coming year.  I personaaly want to thank all the other officers for the wonderful level of help and support they gave me this past year.  Mike Woods has been the kind of vice president that every club president dreams of, always ready and eager to take on any task or job that needed to be done.  Julie, as everyone knows, is a fantastic club secretary, dependable and consistent, and in addition to her duties as club secretary, she contributes enormously to our club by overseeing the monthly cookouts and all the other special occasions and holidays when we like to get together and eat.  Tony and Gene are equally valuable in the services they render to our club, and are an important part of what has made the past couple of years so successful for our club.  Thanks to all of them, and to all of you, for making the club what it is.  I appreciate you all.

Looking forward to 2010, I'll see you all at the field!

 David

Julie Christofferson

Appointed as

FWRCFC Secretary

At the August club meeting, held on Tuesday, August 5th, the resignation of Mike Brown as our club secretary was officially accepted.  Mike's business has been taking him out of town a lot this past year, and he felt that he wasn't able to discharge his duties as secretary well enough to continue in that capacity.  As a result, he tendered his resignation a few months ago, effective as soon as we were able to find a replacement.  Julie has been acting as secretary in his absence, and as of this month has now been a full member for the required 6 months, so I have accepted Mike's resignation and have appointed Julie to fill that office for the remainder of this year.  Julie has done a fine job filling in for Mike, and she'll be a great addition to the club's officers.

We've had a busy month at the field, with new club sport shirts, new tee shirts, and a large order of glow fuel all arriving this past month........

"Pilot Line" Clearly Defined

There's been some misunderstanding on the part of a few members with regard to the proper location of pilots while they are flying at our field.  Last fall, the club discussed at some length the layout of our field, including the locations of the fence, the pitt area, taxiways, runway, etc.  Quite a bit of time was devoted to deciding upon the location of the "pilot boxes", and whether or not we were going to build a second, shorter fence, and if so, whether it would be placed in front of or behind the pilot boxes.  We eventually decided not to have the second fence at all, but to ask Scott to mow the grass higher in front of the pilot boxes, to see if this would provide some protection to pilots along the pilot line from planes that might be having difficulty while landing.
